Poland has two magnificent cities: Warsaw and Krakow. Over three quarters of the buildings in the capital city have been destroyed during the Second World War, but for many it's still the Paris of Eastern Europe. With the restored historical district, the new skyscrapers and a bit of leftover communism, it's a vibrant European city.
Krakow, with its orginal historic center, still reflects the glory of the unbeatable Polish kingdoms in former centuries. Nearby Auschwitz, on the other hand, is one of the most horrifying remains of the nazi terror during the Second World War.
